Mount Stuart – Fantasy to Fabrication Exhibition

Fantasy to Fabrication Exhibition

Venue: The Armoury, Mount Stuart House, Isle of Bute

Exhibition design, graphic design & interpretation

Mount Stuart is a magnificent Neo-Gothic mansion on the Isle of Bute, sitting between Glasgow and Ayrshire on the Firth of Clyde. This makes for a quite unique setting and location so The Port Creative was delighted to be commissioned designers of the first exhibition in the Armoury Room.

This exhibition was focused on Victorian fantasy and craftsmanship either acquired or commissioned by the Bute family and displayed extraordinary examples of original 19th century objects alongside corresponding original design drawings many of which had never been seen before by the public.

As part of the brief, The Port developed a bespoke typeface inspired by historic hand-written samples used in the architectural plans developed for Mount Stuart by Robert Rowan Anderson's architectural practice (c.1878). This was used across the marketing material, website, interpretation boards and signage.
